Your puppy deserves a GREAT start in life!

Puppies can be hard to manage and sometimes hard to train at home. Let First Choice Canine help guide you to the correct training that will serve you and your family for years to come.

We offer puppy training to families in and around Southern NH and MA.

Puppy owners often ask, “How soon should I start training my puppy?”. The truth is that puppy training starts the moment you bring your new dog home, whether you realize it or not. The time to take an active role in your puppy’s learning is now. Puppies are fast learners, and that can either be a training advantage or a major problem depending on how you use this time.

The team at First Choice Canine learned how to train puppies through years of experience. We know how to prevent bad behaviors like biting, barking, and mouthing from forming while creating a foundation of obedience and confidence.

Completing First Choice Canine’s puppy program not only starts your puppy off on the right paw, but can help reduce the amount of training needed later on. The reason is simple: if you let us give your dog a strong training foundation, we’ll be able to achieve the best possible results in the future in the shortest amount of time. Just as humans learn best when they’re children, puppies will pick up good and bad behaviors like sponges at this stage of their life. Training your puppy with us today means that your dog will be more obedient and easier to train later on. It also means your dog will be less likely to develop aggression issues and other bad behaviors.

Our puppy training program will give your dog a world of new experiences in a way that’s safe and controlled.

We make sure that your puppy is learning from positive experiences with people and other dogs. Part of our training process is dedicated to teaching you about the best way to introduce your dog to new elements. Raising a dog to be obedient takes proper training throughout their life, and it’s a process needs to go beyond things like “sit” and “down.” Crate training, housebreaking and socialization are all crucial parts of a puppy’s development.

Our puppy training program includes:

Socialization

As much as you may want to keep your new puppy all to yourself, you need to be ready to share him or her with friends, family, neighbors, vets and groomers. A dog with proper socialization training can handle these experiences with ease, being accepting of strangers and other dogs.

Crate Training

There’s a right way and a wrong way to do crate training. At FCC, we know how to crate train dogs. We do it in such a way that your puppy will begin to recognize the crate as a den instead of a cage. Crate training not only aids in the process of housebreaking, it’s a great way to prevent chewed furniture and separation anxiety.

Housebreaking

Every puppy will teach its owner about the best way to remove stains from a carpet, but indoor accidents can get old quickly. We take a systematic approach to housebreaking to make sure that your puppy learns the concept once and for all. A properly house trained pup leads to many years of exceptional companionship.

Make your puppy an AKC S.T.A.R.!

First Choice Canine is a Canine Good Citizen (CGC) evaluator for the American Kennel Club. When you complete one of First Choice Canine’s puppy training programs in Massachusetts or New Hampshire, your puppy becomes eligible for AKC S.T.A.R. enrollment. This program is designed to get dog owners and their puppies off to a good start with handler/dog communication and socialization around other dogs. First Choice Canine’s puppy training and the S.T.A.R. program are natural lead ins to the AKC Canine Good Citizen program when your puppy becomes an adult.
